The safest way to judge a Sorrento hotel is not by the walking-time number alone. Sorrento sits on a high terrace above the water. The railway terminus, Piazza Lauro, Corso Italia and much of the central shopping area are on the upper level. Marina Grande and Marina Piccola are below it, while places such as Priora, Via Nastro Verde and parts of Via Capo climb away from the center. That geography matters more than a map saying โ12 minutes on foot.โ

- Find the exact entrance, not just the hotel pin. Large hotels, villas and apartment complexes can have a map pin in the middle of the property while reception is on another street. Marina Piccola
Marina Piccola is the ferry port and sits below the town center. The lift by the Villa Comunale connects the upper town with the port area, but it is not at the railway station, so you still need to get from Piazza De Curtis across the center to the lift entrance. A property toward Massa Lubrense or the hills may have no useful railway station within walking distance at all.
Before paying a non-refundable rate, compare the hotel entrance against every relevant transport stop, not just the famous terminus. Do not ask only โIs it walkable from the station?โ That invites a subjective answer. Ask questions that produce facts:
