Venice transport is simple once you know 2 things: WHAT your ticket covers + WHEN it starts. 🚤⏱️ Here’s the quick cheat sheet so you don’t waste money:

1) “Zones” (what your ACTV ticket/pass covers) 🗺️ ✅ ACTV public transport in Venice area: vaporetti (Venice/Lido/lagoon islands) + buses in Mestre/Marghera + tram + People Mover ❌ NOT included on standard tickets/passes: Marco Polo Airport transfers, Alilaguna, ATVO, and Water-bus Line 16.

2) Timing hack (THIS saves you €€) ⏰ All time tickets are valid from the exact moment you FIRST validate. So a 24h pass activated at 19:30 runs until 19:30 next day ✅ 👉 If you arrive late, don’t activate until your first ride.

3) Which ticket should you buy? 🎟️ • 75-min ticket (€9,50) = best for 1–2 quick hops (train → hotel, hotel → San Marco, etc.) • Unlimited passes: 24h €25 / 48h €35 / 72h €45 / 7 days €65

2) Accademia (Michelangelo’s David) – small museum, big demand
3) Uffizi Gallery – timed entry, peak days sell out
4) Palazzo Pitti (+ Boboli) – smoother entry, especially afternoons

🟢 Low season = fewer tourists, better prices, short lines 🟡 Shoulder = lively but ok, book big sights ahead 🔴 Peak = queues, sold-out time slots, higher prices

FLORENCE 2026 MONTH BY MONTH
🟢 JAN – Quiet & cheap after 7 Jan. New Year & Epiphany are busier, then it calms down. 🟢 FEB – One of the calmest months: cold, low prices, great for museums. 🟡 MAR – Starts quieter, then fills up towards Easter + spring weekends. 🔴 APR – Easter (5 Apr) + holidays = packed. Huge crowds around the Duomo & Uffizi. 🔴 MAY – Classic high season: perfect weather, very popular. Book top sights in advance. 🔴 JUN – Super busy: festivals, events, school holidays, long lines everywhere. 🔴 JUL – Hot + crowded, especially in the historic center triangle (Duomo–Uffizi–Ponte Vecchio). 🔴 AUG – Tourists in, many locals gone. Ferragosto week is especially busy. 🔴 / 🟡 SEP – Early Sept = red; late Sept = yellow “sweet spot” (still busy but nicer). 🟡 OCT – High but more relaxed than summer.
